Moranbah
State School’s P-6 curriculum represents enriched and rigorous learning
experiences designed to meet the current and future needs of our students. We
pride ourselves in being able to offer students access to education that is
suited to individual student’s diverse needs. Every student from Prep to Year 6
experiences a curriculum that prepares them to succeed for their future.
We are
implementing the Australian Curriculum, designed by the Assessment and
Reporting Authority (ACARA) in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science,
History, Geography, Health and Physical Education, Languages and The Arts.
Information Communication Technology (ICT) is integrated into units of work and
the day to day teaching for staff. All
classrooms are fitted with interactive whiteboards, a data projector, a teacher
laptop and iPad. At Moranbah State School we utilize Curriculum into the
Classroom (C2C) as our tool for planning and assessing student achievement
against the Achievement Standards of the Australian Curriculum.
We are very
fortunate to have such a supportive community, and dedicated, experienced and
caring staff. Our staff are constantly
striving to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge to deliver explicit,
engaging and diverse curriculum for all students’ learning needs. Our teachers
use the delivery method of Explicit Instruction to ensure all students are
catered for through differentiation and opportunities to have success at their
level.
We have a
strong focus on the teaching of phonics through our 'LEM' (Light Educational
Ministries) phonics program and our Moranbah State School reading program
ensures a consistent and balanced approach to the teaching of reading.
Our
facilities include twenty three classrooms, a Multipurpose Hall, tuck shop,
computer laboratory, music room, oval, netball/basketball court, sandpits and
three playgrounds. Students are able to
study woodwind, percussion or brass instruments through our instrumental
program.
Our
facilities allow all students the opportunity to access learning opportunities
to enable them to reach their full potential.
