At Moranbah State School,
in Years 4 to 6, we consolidate the foundations of literacy and numeracy
learned in the early years, expanding and developing their high order thinking and
applied reasoning skills.
Moranbah State School students
in Years 4 to 6:
- have specialist teachers providing
programs in Health and Physical Education, The Arts and LOTE
- students’ in years 5 and 6 will
experience a yearly camp
- Participate in collaborative learning
opportunities through our reciprocal reading program
- implement explicit
teaching practices in the delivery of reading, writing and numeracy on a
daily basis
- use warm ups for
consolidation of core concepts
- students access
modern technology in the classroom and in designated computer time
- teachers continually
monitor and assess to identify individual students’ learning needs though
individual student feedback
- dedicated teachers
who are supported through coaching and mentoring to ensure they maintain
high professional standards
- our
senior students run the assembly every Thursday afternoon from 2.15pm till
3.00pm, providing a great opportunity to develop confidence and leadership
skills
- have some curriculum excursions, such as
our Year 4 night camp
- Participate in Extra-Curricular
activities such as, a School Musical, Wakakirri, Whitsunday Voices and
more.
We
provide a seamless and positive transition High School for our Year 6 students.
Our transition program prepares students for the organisational, academic,
social and emotional demands of Secondary Schooling. Students participate in
orientation days and parents are invited to attend a Year 6 into 7 information
evening.
