Lunchtime activities
A
diverse range of activities are available during lunchtimes and the library is
a very social place for students to meet up with their peers – dress ups,
puppets, board games, Duplo, Chess and craft activities, or simply finding a
quiet spot to read are just some of the activities available.
Library events
- Scholastic Book Club (various times throughout the year)
- Scholastic Book Fair (terms 2 and 4)
- Book Week Parade (Children’s Book Council of Australia’s (CBCA) Book Week – term 3)
- National Simultaneous Storytime (term 2)
- Readers Cup (term 2)
Book Fair
At MSS we host two Scholastic Book Fairs throughout the year (Term 2 and Term 4). These book fairs allow the students to browse for and purchase books – much like a book shop. This is a great opportunity for our students to access up to date books and it also helps raise much needed funds that go back into our school. Book fairs often include fun events, competitions and displays to help add to the excitement.
Book Week
Book Week is a huge event on the MSS calendar. We celebrate with a Book Week Parade and other various competitions, displays and events. Students are invited to participate in the parade by dressing up as their favourite book character and joining in the celebrations.
